Who is Sky Superfast 35 best for?
Sky Superfast 35 is most suited to smaller households who only use the Internet to stream SD or HD TV, and for browsing such as online shopping and social media.
The average speeds of 36Mbps will support one or two people going online at the same time, so is best suited to homes without a lot of smart devices sharing the connection.
Overall, Sky Superfast 35 is best for:
- Smaller households where only one, or sometimes two, people will be online at the same time
- People who only stream SD or HD TV, as the speed isn't really fast enough for streaming Ultra HD 4K
- People who use the Internet for online browsing, such as shopping and social media
- Those still living outside of a full fibre enabled area who want to switch to a new broadband deal with Sky
Sky Superfast 35 is no longer available to new customers, except in instances where a property is too far from the local exchange, or street cabinet, to receive the speeds offered by Sky Superfast of 61Mbps on average.
So, if customers want this plan, they should sign up for Sky Superfast, which is effectively the same and if distance is an issue on speeds, then Sky will supply this Superfast 35 plan instead.
It's worth noting that Sky's faster Superfast 80 package is currently priced at just £25 per month, so it's also their cheapest deal, and can support more devices as well as being more suitable for online activities like downloading films, gaming, and for those who work from home.

What does Sky Superfast 35 offer?
Sky Broadband Superfast 35 is an entry-level superfast fibre plan, introduced in February 2022 as an affordable choice.
However, while it first launched at £25 per month, it became more expensive than the faster Superfast 80 plan for some time, before finally being replaced by it entirely (wherever possible).
Package | Broadband | Monthly price | Upfront price | Contract term | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Superfast Broadband | 61Mb average | £25 | £5 | 24 months | |
Offer: WiFi Max just £4/mth + (£5 refundable setup fee for new customers if applicable) |
Sky Superfast 35 offers average download speeds of 36Mb per second, comes with a 24-month minimum term, and a £5 setup fee - although this is refunded for new customers.
Customers living within full fibre enabled areas will be offered Sky Full Fibre 75 as their entry-level plan, while those who haven't yet been passed by Openreach's FTTP network will get the plan connected through their existing BT phone line.
All Sky Superfast 35 broadband customers will receive the Sky Broadband Hub free of charge, and can benefit from a free whole-home WiFi guarantee that promises at least 3Mbps download speeds or some money back.
Sky do increase prices for in-contract customers on an annual basis, but they don't specify by how much. In April 2024, they increased prices by an average of 6.7%, lower than most other providers, with BT increasing prices by 7.9%. Customers were also given the option to leave their contract early without penalty, which again, most other providers did not.
Superfast 35 + calls
Sky Superfast 35 comes with the cost of line rental included in the monthly fee, and all customers get a home phone line with pay as you go calls.
Pay as you go calls come with the following charges as standard:
- 27 pence per minute to UK landlines and UK mobiles
- 25 pence connection fee
Customers can also choose to add one of the following inclusive call plans:
Call plan | Includes | Monthly price |
---|---|---|
Sky Talk Evenings and Weekends Extra | Calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles Monday to Friday evenings, 7pm to 7am, and all weekend | £8 |
Sky Talk Anytime Extra | Calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles at any time | £16 |
Sky Talk International Extra | Calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles at any time, plus calls to 50 popular destinations | £18 |
Sky Talk plans include calls to both landlines and mobiles in the UK, and customers can choose an international plan if they regularly call abroad.
Superfast 35 + Sky TV
While Sky customers can take broadband on its own, they can save more by bundling it with a Sky TV plan.
Customers can bundle Sky Superfast with Sky Essential TV for a low-cost way to access over 100 free-to-air channels as well as the popular Sky Atlantic and Netflix subscriptions.
Package | TV | Broadband | Monthly price | Upfront price | Contract term | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Sky Essential TV + Superfast Broadband | 100 | 61Mb average | £39 | Free | 24 months | |
Offer: Reduced price broadband + Free setup (worth £39.95) (Ends 06/01/2025) | ||||||
Sky Ultimate TV + Superfast Broadband | 142 | 61Mb average | £43 | Free | 24 months | |
Offer: Save £6/mth on Sky Ultimate TV + Sky broadband just £21/mth + Free setup |
For those who want more TV, Sky Superfast can also be bundled with Sky Ultimate TV, which includes an extra 42 premium channels from Sky Entertainment, National Geographic and Discovery.
Customers bundling can save around £4 per month compared to taking Sky TV and broadband services separately, considering any new customer offers available at the time.
Savings are similar whether customers choose the new Sky Stream Puck box, or the Sky Glass TV set with Sky TV.
It's worth noting that while Sky Stream supports 4K Ultra HD, it has a minimum download speed requirement of 30Mb per second, which Superfast 35 may not achieve.
However, HD viewing on Stream or Sky Q apps requires a minimum download speed of 25Mb per second, so this broadband package is likely to support viewing in 1080p HD.
Superfast 35 vs Superfast 80
Whether customers get Sky Superfast 35 or Superfast 80 will be out of their hands as Sky are now only allowing new customers to sign up for Sky Superfast 80.
Where line speeds don't meet the 61Mbps average of Sky Superfast 80, they'll be given the option to sign up for Sky Superfast 35 instead, with average speeds of 36Mbps.
In terms of pricing Sky Superfast 80 is just £25 per month for the first 24 months, making it Sky's cheapest broadband deal and the better plan of the two where it's available.
How does Sky Superfast 35 compare?
Like Sky, most broadband providers are removing their 35Mb plans and only offering their 60-70Mb packages to customers in part fibre enabled areas.
So, we can compare Sky Superfast against other similar 60-70Mb plans:
Package | Broadband | Monthly price | Upfront price | Contract term | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Superfast Broadband | 61Mb average | £25 | £5 | 24 months | |
Offer: WiFi Max just £4/mth + (£5 refundable setup fee for new customers if applicable) | |||||
Superfast | 61Mb average | £23 | £5 | 24 months | |
Offer: £5 refundable advance fee for new customers if applicable | |||||
Fibre 2 | 65Mb average | £24.50 | Free | 24 months | |
Offer: £2 off for Vodafone pay monthly customers | |||||
Fibre | 66Mb average | £25.99 | Free | 24 months | |
Offer: Save over £4/mth + No setup fee + Exclusive offers and discounts for Plusnet customers (Ends 22/01/2025) |
Similar packages from Sky-owned NOW Broadband and Vodafone are cheaper than Sky's Superfast option, although Sky is cheaper than equivalent deals from Plusnet, TalkTalk, and BT.
NOW Broadband is one to take particular note of, as NOW is owned by Sky, and so customers receive the same router, customer service, and optional add-ons, like Sky TV.
Plusnet is also comparable to Sky, ranking highly in the latest independent research into customer service satisfaction. While TalkTalk Fibre 35 can also be bundled with a TV service.
How fast is Sky Superfast 35?
Sky Superfast 35 Broadband offers average download speeds of 36Mb per second, and average upload speeds of 9Mb per second.
Usually, the connection will be provided over fibre to the cabinet technology, this utilises the copper phone line network from the street cabinet to a customer's home. It can be slower than full fibre, but currently has much wider availability.
Where customers are living within an Openreach fibre to the premises (FTTP) network area, Sky will offer customers their Full Fibre 75 plan instead for a similar price. This will be more reliable as the fibre cable comes directly into a customer's home, reducing any signal attenuation due to long cabling distances.
Advertised average speeds must be experienced by at least 50% of a provider's customer base during the peak hours of 8pm to 10pm in the evening. This means, most customers will get the average advertised speed of 36Mb per second or faster.
Sky Speed Guarantee
Sky offer customers a broadband speed guarantee, they promise that if you don't get the minimum guaranteed speed, they'll give you a month's free broadband subscription.
Under Ofcom's voluntary code of broadband speeds, customers can also leave their contracts early and without penalty if Sky don't deliver their minimum guaranteed speed and can't fix it within 30 days.
Sky do go beyond most other providers with their money back guarantee, and customers can claim up to twice during their minimum term.
Customers can expect a minimum guaranteed speed on Superfast 35 of around 25Mb per second, although the guaranteed speed is personalised to a property and so will vary.
WiFi guarantee
Sky also offer customers a free WiFi guarantee, which promises minimum wireless speeds of 3Mb per second in every room or customers can claim a month's free broadband subscription.
Sky's Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee is separate from Sky WiFi Max, which is a paid for service and also includes free off-peak engineer visits, daily line checks, and 2GB of Sky mobile data if their fixed line connection goes down. It currently costs from £4 per month, although prices may increase after the minimum term.
Overall, while Sky's WiFi guarantee is a nice extra, the minimum speeds of 3Mbps may seem paltry to some users, especially those on faster plans.
Router
Sky Superfast 35 customers will receive the latest Sky Broadband Hub, which is also offered to those who can get the faster Sky Superfast plan as well.
That's good news for Superfast 35 customers as they'll be getting a wireless router capable of handling much faster speeds.
The Sky Broadband Hub features dual band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) technology along with WPA2 security. It also meets the Wi-Fi 5 standard. While this has now been superseded by Wi-Fi 6, it's still in broad use, with BT also only supporting WiFi 5 in their router.
The Sky Broadband Hub has 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports to connect devices directly to the router and eight antennae to help project the wi-fi signal around the home.
Customers who struggle with a poor wireless signal in their home will need to upgrade to Sky WiFi Max however, which offers an upgraded router as well as free access to WiFi boosters that can extend coverage in a home.
As mentioned, Sky WiFi Max, costs from £4 per month and includes the latest Sky Max Hub as well as WiFi Pods if customers need extra coverage.
Verdict: Is Sky Superfast 35 any good?
Sky Broadband Superfast 35 has been largely replaced by Sky's Superfast 80 plan for customers still living in part fibre enabled areas.
Where it will be offered is when customers are living too far from their local exchange or nearest street cabinet to receive the faster speeds of Sky Superfast 80. In these cases, customers will be connected to Sky Superfast 35 instead.
Sky Superfast 35 offers an entry into fibre broadband that some customers may otherwise not have and, with the switch-off of copper broadband moving closer, it's important for customers to have those options.
The Superfast 35 package has the following benefits:
- Offers a personalised speed guarantee
- Customers will get the faster Superfast 80 plan where available
- Comes with the Sky Broadband Hub
- Includes a home phone line at no extra cost
- TV and call packages can be added
Overall, with the move to full fibre broadband underway, it's no surprise Sky has joined many providers by removing their slower part fibre plan and connecting all users at superfast 61Mbps speeds wherever possible.
However, for those that still need it, Sky Superfast 35 is a useful package, with good optional extras and Sky's excellent customer service.
