Who is NOW Full Fibre 300 best suited for?

NOW Full Fibre 300 is the provider's fastest speed tier and is most suitable for larger homes and households where multiple people are going online at the same time.

Despite offering faster 300Mbps download speeds, Full Fibre 300 remains competitively priced, starting at £30 per month and having few cheaper options available from rivals.

The faster speeds on offer, are therefore suitable for:

  • Four or more people going online at the same time
  • Streaming 1080p HD or Ultra HD on more than one screen at a time
  • Online gaming and downloading game files
  • Working from home for two to three people
  • Video calls and team meetings in 4K Ultra HD easily supported

While streaming HD only requires 5Mbps broadband speeds, and 4K Ultra HD only requires 25Mbps, the benefit of having 300Mbps download speeds is the increased bandwidth to do more activities simultaneously.

This means, NOW Full Fibre 300 is a good broadband package to support larger homes where multiple people are sharing the Internet connection and going online at the same time, without causing issues like buffering for each other.

NOW Broadband does offer a cheaper Full Fibre 100 plan, which costs £5 per month less per month, but where homes have three or more occupants, they'd be better suited to the faster speeds offered here.

Other alternatives for fast broadband include Sky's Full Fibre 500, which is currently priced at just £32 per month - £2 more per month, with an extra 200Mbps of bandwidth.

Overall, NOW Full Fibre 300 is a well-priced broadband package for homes with slightly more people sharing the connection.

What does NOW Full Fibre 300 offer?

NOW Full Fibre 300 offers average download speeds of 300Mbps at peak times, and average upload speeds of 40Mbps, with unlimited usage.

Currently priced at £30 per month, NOW Full Fibre 300 offers good value for money and can be customised with additional features.

It's possible to add a call plan to the home phone line, including an off-peak and anytime option for £8 and £15.50 per month respectively.

Customers can also upgrade the router to the newer WiFi 6 enabled Sky Max Hub, and get WiFi boosters with the Sky WiFi Max add-on for an extra £6 per month.

Prices for new customers are frozen until April 2026, although at this time prices could go up but NOW Broadband doesn't specify by how much. However, if they do increase prices later on, customers are given 30 days' notice and the option to exit their contract.

NOW Full Fibre 300 + calls

NOW Full Fibre 300 comes with a home phone line and calls can be made on a pay as you go basis.

Standard UK calling charges are 27p per minute for landlines and mobiles, plus a 25p connection fee for each call.

Customers can also add one of the following call plans:

Inclusive calls Monthly price
Talk Evenings & Weekends Calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles Monday to Friday evenings, 7pm to 7am, and all weekend £8
Talk Anytime Calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles at any time £15.50
Talk International Calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles at any time, plus 50 worldwide destinations £18

Inclusive call plans only cover calls of up to one hour in duration, so for longer calls customers need to remember to hang up and re-dial.

Sky Talk taken out with NOW Broadband is subject to a minimum term of 24 months, and so new customers should be aware the talk plan can't be cancelled early.

NOW Full Fibre 300 + Sky TV

NOW Broadband customers can sign up to Sky TV in the checkout, with prices for Sky Ultimate TV currently reduced by £6 per month to just £22 per month.

Sky Ultimate TV includes Sky Atlantic and up to 150 TV channels, including from Sky Entertainment, National Geography, and Discovery.

NOW Full Fibre 300 vs Sky Full Fibre 500

Customers considering slightly faster speeds than those offered by NOW Full Fibre 300, will have to look to parent company Sky instead, as Full Fibre 300 is NOW Broadband's fastest tier.

The next step up from 300Mbps, would be Sky's Full Fibre 500 plan, which currently costs £2 more per month than NOW Full Fibre 300:

Package Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Full Fibre 300 300Mb average £30 Free 24 months
offer Offer: Free setup
Full Fibre 500 500Mb average £32 £5 24 months
offer Offer: WiFi Max just £4/mth + (£5 refundable setup fee for new customers if applicable)

There are some other benefits to Sky Full Fibre 500, which is that customers are provided with the newer Sky Max Hub as standard, and the cost to add Sky WiFi Max only costs £4 per month.

In comparison, adding Sky WiFi Max and the Sky Max Hub to NOW Full Fibre 300 would cost £6 per month, making the two packages cost the same.

Other features, including the home phone line, optional call plans, and access to customer service, are all the same.

Should you upgrade?

Customers who would take the Sky WiFi Max, with the newer WiFi 6 enabled Sky Max Hub and WiFi boosters, would likely be better opting for Sky Full Fibre 500 over NOW Full Fibre 300.

The total price when the add-on is included works out the same, but customers would get faster 500Mbps speeds with Sky.

How does NOW Full Fibre 300 compare?

NOW Full Fibre 300 is a competitively priced broadband plan, however there are a few cheaper alternatives, including Plusnet and Onestream.

Package Broadband Monthly price Upfront price Contract term
Full Fibre 300 300Mb average £30 Free 24 months
offer Offer: Free setup
Full Fibre 300 300Mb average £28.99 Free 24 months

Full Fibre 300 300Mb average £30.99 Free 24 months
offer Offer: £70 BT Reward Card + Reduced price for 24 months + Free setup & P&P (Ends 06/03/2025)

Cheaper deals from budget providers often have less included in the package however. Plusnet doesn't include a home phone line, neither does Onestream and their router is more basic too.

Equivalent speed plans from Origin Broadband, Virgin Media and BT are all more expensive than NOW Full Fibre 300.

Other providers don't offer a 300Mb plan, and instead move straight to a 500Mb plan, including Sky, who's Full Fibre 500 costs just £2 more per month at £32 per month.

Vodafone also offers a Full Fibre 500 plan for £30 per month, yet, customers get a WiFi 6 enabled router included as well as a home phone line.

Overall, while NOW Full Fibre 300 is competitively priced, it's possible to find even cheaper deals, although remember to check what's included as budget deals may not offer the same services.

How fast is NOW Full Fibre 300 broadband?

NOW Full Fibre 300 offers average download speeds of 300Mbps at peak times, coupled with average upload speeds of 40Mbps.

That makes it three times as fast as NOW Full Fibre 100, with twice the upload speed too.

Average download speed Average upload speed
NOW Full Fibre 100 100Mb 19Mb
NOW Full Fibre 300 300Mb 40Mb

NOW Full Fibre 300 is provided using a full fibre to the home connection, which means speeds should be more stable as the fibre lines come right into a customer's home, in comparison to older fibre to the cabinet technology where the last mile of cabling is the old copper phone cable which is affected by distance.

In addition, these average advertised speeds must be received by at least 50% of a provider's customer base between the peak hours of 8pm to 10pm in the evening, so potential customers can be confident of the speeds they'll receive.

Minimum guaranteed download speed

NOW Broadband is signed up to Ofcom's voluntary code of practice on broadband speeds, which means they provide customers with a personalised estimated speed and a minimum guaranteed download speed when they sign up.

This practice ensures customers are given an absolute minimum speed, which if their service drops below this the customer will be able to exit aims to ensure customers get a better indication of the speed they'll receive, as their contract penalty free.

We tested an Openreach FTTP enabled location and were given the following estimated speeds and minimum guaranteed download speed for NOW Full Fibre 300 broadband.

Estimated download speed Estimated upload speed Minimum guaranteed download speed
NOW Full Fibre 300 298 - 314Mb 39 - 47Mb 200Mb

Estimated speeds can vary depending upon location, but this provides a good comparison between the minimum speeds likely to be promised for each NOW Broadband package.

You can read more about minimum guaranteed download speeds in this guide.

Router

NOW Full Fibre 300 comes with the Sky Broadband Hub, which was released in September 2019 and is equivalent to devices like BT's Smart Hub 2, Plusnet's Hub Two, and TalkTalk's WiFi Hub.

The Sky Broadband Hub offers dual-band wireless up to the WiFi 5 protocol. It has 8 internal antennae and four 1Gb Ethernet LAN ports for wired connections.

While it also works with mesh to seamlessly connect additional WiFi boosters, to get this service NOW Broadband customers need to take the Sky WiFi Max add-on, which also includes a router upgrade to the Sky Max Hub.

Sky Broadband Hub Sky Max Hub
WiFi protocol 5 (802.11ax) 6 (802.11ac)
WiFi bands Dual-band Dual-band
2.4GHz 4x4 4x4
5GHz 4x4 4x4
Antennae 8 8
Ethernet LAN 4 x 1Gb 4 x 1Gb
Security WPA2 WPA3
Mesh Yes Yes

Sky's newest router, the Sky Max Hub, offers support for WiFi 6 as well as updated security encryption with WPA3.

Sky WiFi Max costs £6 per month for NOW Full Fibre 300 customers, and bundles the Sky Max Hub plus up to three Plume WiFi Pods and promises minimum speeds over wireless of at least 25Mbps in every room.

Considering the faster download speeds of NOW Full Fibre 300, those with newer WiFi 6 devices, including the Sky Stream Box, or with larger homes, will benefit from the upgraded router and boosters.

Verdict: Is NOW Full Fibre 300 any good?

NOW Full Fibre 300 is a great choice for larger households where more people are sharing the connection, with the additional 300Mbps bandwidth able to support multiple people going online at the same time.

It's possible to customise Full Fibre 300 with call plans, as well as a router upgrade and whole home WiFi guarantee, which again suits larger households well.

The drawbacks however, are that those who add the Sky WiFi Max add-on will be paying the same total price as taking this add-on with Sky Full Fibre 500, which also offers faster speeds, so that upgrade is worth serious consideration.

Sky broadband also usually have better discounts for bundling Sky TV too.

Overall, NOW Broadband is a great straightforward choice, with the plans now powered by Sky, customers benefit from low prices coupled with Sky's more premium hardware and customer service.
