EE have announced they'll be increasing data allowances on select mobile phone plans, multiplying the available data by five times for those who sign up to their 4GEE and 4GEE Pay Monthly deals.
The special offer runs between June 2nd and June 29th, during which time new 4GEE Max subscribers who also take a new handset will be able to receive 25GB of data per month instead of 5GB, while 4GEE customers will be able to get 5GB instead of the usual 1GB.
Similarly, those who go for a SIM-only deal before June 27th will be able to quadruple their usual data allowance, while those who opt for a tablet will be able to multiply their allowance by ten.
What's more, even customers interested only in a Pay As You Go setup will receive an extra 1GB of data for every £10 they spend, meaning that EE pretty much have all their bases covered by their self-proclaimed "datafest".
EE are on something of a publicity offensive at the moment, having just announced their fifth consecutive deal with Glastonbury to supply the festival's mobile network.
They underlined how this network will permit the use of 40TB of data over the course of the festival, and appropriately enough, their announcement today also relates to the same theme of data, and of how they're expanding the capacity of their network for the benefit of their customers.
Accordingly, their range of special offers promise extra data to both new and existing customers, with the biggest draw being their Pay Monthly handset deals, as highlighted below:
Deal | Contract | Data |
---|---|---|
Apple iPhone 7 (32GB) for £9.99 upfront | £52.99 per month, 24 month 4GEE Max plan | 25GB data for the price of 5GB |
Apple iPhone 6S (32GB) with no upfront cost | £47.99 per month, 24 month 4GEE Max plan | 25GB data for the price of 5GB |

It's worth noting that, while the vast majority of these 4GEE Max plans bump the customer's data up to 25GB, there's one - the £52.99 Huawei P10 Plus deal - that multiplies the usual 5GB by only 3, bringing it up to 15GB.
Still, even with this minor exception, the deals are very generous. They show EE determined to prove themselves as the most data-generous mobile operator in the UK, in addition to having the fastest and most reliable network, although not always the best customer service.
To this end, they've also announced the following SIM-only offers, for those whose data needs aren't so intensive and who aren't on the lookout for a new smartphone:
Price | Data | Contract |
---|---|---|
£19.99 | 12GB for the price of 3GB | 12 month 4GEE Max SIM-only plan |
£23.99 | 20GB for the price of 5GB | 12 month 4GEE SIM-only plan |
£17.99 | 8GB for the price of 2GB | 12 month 4GEE SIM-only plan |

If these weren't enough, EE are also on the hunt for new tablet subscribers, who as the table below reveals would benefit from 10-times the amount of data:
Deal | Data | Contract |
---|---|---|
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 for £49.99 upfront (new customers only) | 20GB for the price of 2GB | £25 per month, 24 month 4GEE Max plan |
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 for £0 upfront (existing customers only) | 20GB for the price of 2GB | £22.50 per month, 24 month 4GEE Max plan |

Together with the extra 1GB of data for new Pay As You Go customers, these deals would make it seem that EE aim to entice almost anyone who might be looking for a new phone deal right now.
It's also possible that they're partly aiming to upstage Tesco Mobile, who yesterday launched the UK's lowest monthly 500MB plans to come with unlimited calls and texts.
For 500MB, Tesco Mobile are asking for only £5 a month, although the snag is that customers have to be Sky TV subscribers to be eligible for such a competitive price.
That no one has to be a pre-existing EE customer to benefit from their deals might just put the BT-owned provider ahead in terms of generosity, yet then again these deals last only until June 27th and the 29th, while Sky's are permanent.
Yet either way, those who are on the lookout for a new phone deal this summer are clearly spoilt for choice, as mobile operators fight doggedly to grab their attention.
