Virgin Media TV customers will be able to watch Premier Sports for free throughout August.
For the whole month of August, Virgin Media are offering all TV customers free access to Premier Sports if they don't already subscribe to it.
Eligible customers will see Premier Sports 1 HD and Premier Sports 2 HD added to their channel line-up until 31st August 2024.
Customers who want to continue watching Premier Sports after this date can subscribe at the standard price of £12.99 per month.
Virgin Media are gifting their TV customers free access to Premier Sports for the month of August this summer.
Customers who don't already subscribe to the channel pack can save themselves £12.99 with access to Premier Sports 1 HD (Channel 551) and Premier Sports 2 HD (Channel 552) added to their line-up at no extra cost.
Premier Sports is best known for its football coverage, with matches from LALIGA, the Scottish Premiership, Scotland's Premier Sports Cup, and the pre-season programme featuring Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.
Sports fans will also be able to watch rugby union, MMA, and motorsport throughout the month on the Premier Sports channels.
Access to the channel pack will be made available to all customers who don't currently subscribe to Premier Sports on TV 360, Virgin Stream, and Virgin V6 boxes until 31st August 2024.
After August customers who want to continue watching will be able to subscribe through their box-sets at a price of £12.99 per month, with Virgin Stream customers getting a further 10% off for paying via their Virgin bill.
David Bouchier, Chief TV and Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2 said: "Throughout August, we're offering our customers even more value with the addition of free access to Premier Sports. Our customers can extend the summer of sport with football, rugby, motorsport and more, including upcoming games such as Real Madrid v Chelsea, Rangers v St Johnstone, Celtic v Hibernian and Dundee FC v Hearts."
This offer from Virgin Media comes in the same month Sky Sports+ is due to launch as a free additional service to Sky Sports subscribers, including those on Virgin Media's platform.
Virgin Media customers with a TV 360 or Stream box-set will benefit from both the new on-demand live streaming on Sky Sports+ as well as the new Sky Sports+ linear channel set to replace Sky Sports Arena.
Sky Sports+ will automatically be added to any full Sky Sports Complete pack subscription at no extra cost, and will enable viewers to watch more games than ever before with up to 100 concurrent live matches and events.
There's also some appeasement coming from Virgin Media for their sports fans, as some existing customers saw the removal of TNT Sports channels at short notice in June.
While the provider emailed customers who hadn't watched TNT Sports in the last six months to let them know if they wanted to continue watching they'd need to reactivate the pack, some customers on the Virgin Media forum felt they'd been wrongly selected, while others were asked to pay to continue watching the channels.
The confusion comes after Virgin Media removed TNT Sports from its bundles in September 2023, yet existing customers on legacy packages still had free access to the channels, and it looks like Virgin Media want to reduce their broadcasting fees for anyone who doesn't actively want them.
