Quickline have secured both the East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire Project Gigabit rollout bids.

Quickline, an independent full fibre broadband provider, has been awarded both the East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire bids for Project Gigabit funding.

The contracts are worth a combined £190 million and will connect approximately 108,000 homes and business across the counties.

Previous successful bids for Project Gigabit contracts in West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire have already started to be connected by Quickline, bringing full fibre broadband to a further 60,000 premises.

A further 108,000 homes and business across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire will soon benefit from full fibre broadband from Quickline, as the network secures another Project Gigabit rollout bid in the rural North.

Project Gigabit provides public funding to help full fibre networks roll out in rural and hard-to-reach areas that would otherwise be overlooked by commercial investment.

The new East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and North Yorkshire contracts join Quickline's previous successful bids for rollout funding in West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire, creating a combined public investment of £300 million to bring coverage to almost 170,000 premises in the region.

Quickline also plan to increase coverage in these areas to a total of 360,000 premises with their own commercially funded build as well.

In East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire around 72,000 homes and businesses will be connected to full fibre broadband through the Project Gigabit contract worth £118.9 million, while in North Yorkshire around 36,300 premises will be connected with funding worth £73.5 million.

Quickline say work is already underway, with Settle in North Yorkshire and North Kelsey in Lincolnshire among the first communities to benefit from the Government funded rollout.

In North Yorkshire, further towns including Whitby, Scarborough, Knaresborough, and Settle on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales will benefit, as well as villages including Holme Upon Spalding Moor, Kilham and Easington in the East Riding of Yorkshire, and Long Sutton in the Lincolnshire Fens.

Quickline full fibre broadband

Once connected, Quickline will offer full fibre the home broadband to residents in these Yorkshire and Lincolnshire rural areas which may have only had 10Mbps copper ADSL products available to them.

Residents and businesses will be able to order Quickline broadband with up to 1Gbps download speeds.

Prices start at £29 per month for 200Mbps with free setup, with options also available for 400Mbps for £39 per month, and 900Mbps for £49 per month.

At the time of writing, Quickline are also offering the first three months free, and promise no mid-contract price hikes, so prices will remain the same for the duration of the 24-month contract.

Quickline CEO Sean Royce said, "The award of these latest contracts underlines our position as the primary Project Gigabit broadband provider in rural Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

"We have now won all four contracts we have bid for, making us the UK's second largest Project Gigabit regional delivery partner and the only provider to be awarded a contract serving England's largest county, Yorkshire, under the programme.

"We are a regionally focused provider, and through our work as part of the Project Gigabit programme and beyond, we're laser focused on delivering on our mission to connect rural communities to a world of possibilities when it comes to having access to fast and reliable broadband and our desire to make a positive social impact and create economic growth for these rural areas."
