Apple iPhone SE 2020 (2nd generation)

The Apple iPhone SE 2020 is a budget smartphone from Apple that uses an older design to bring a compact iPhone to customers.

It features a single 12MP rear camera with PDAF and OIS, while there is a 7MP front camera for selfies. Touch ID is available on this device.

The handset comes in a choice of three colours and three storage options, with a maximum of 256GB storage available.

Camera

The Apple iPhone SE 2020 comes with a single 12MP rear camera. This is a wide lens with a f/1.8 aperture, phase detection auto-focus (PDAF) and optical image stabilisation (OIS).

Although there are no additional lenses on the Apple iPhone SE 2020, it features 5x digital zoom and a portrait mode. On the front of the iPhone SE 2 is a single 7MP camera.

Video recording on the Apple iPhone SE 2020 is available in 4K at 24/30/60 fps and 1080p at 30/60/120/240 fps on the rear camera. HDR processing is available at up to 30 fps.

Display

Featuring a 4.7-inch display with large bezels around the screen, the Apple iPhone SE 2020 offers a Retina HD display. This is not a full HD display, with the resolution just below the boundary at 1334 x 750 pixels.

The Apple iPhone SE 2020 display features True Tone to automatically adjust the colour temperature of the screen based on the surrounding lighting conditions for a pleasant viewing experience.

Storage

There are three storage choices available with the Apple iPhone SE 2020: 64GB, 128GB or 256GB. All three come with 3GB RAM.

While there is no expandable storage on the Apple iPhone SE 2020, Apple customers can make use of the offloading feature to transfer unused apps and files into the cloud to free up space on their device.

Design

The design of the Apple iPhone SE 2020 is based on the iPhone 8 released in 2017 and offers a compact smartphone experience, albeit one that some users will find slightly dated.

There are large bezels surrounding the screen on the iPhone SE 2nd Generation. This means there is no notch on the top of the display to house the camera as we see on more modern iPhones but it does look dated. The bezel on the bottom of the screen is devoted to the Home button that doubles as a Touch ID biometrics sensor.
