Who is TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 best suited for?
TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 is best suited to larger households where multiple occupants will be using the Internet at the same time, including bandwidth heavy activities like online gaming, streaming Ultra HD content and working from home.
The Full Fibre 900 plan comes bundled with two Amazon eero Pro 6 routers, which means customers can further extend their wireless network seamlessly around a home, with coverage of up to 380m2.
The eero Pro 6 routers also support up to 75 devices connected at once, which means the Full Fibre 900 plan is also well suited to homes with lots of smart devices, especially considering the router has a built-in Zigbee Home Hub too.
Some of the main reasons to opt for TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 include:
- One of the fastest widely available gigabit download speeds, at 944Mbps
- Two eero Pro 6 routers offering tri-band WiFi 6 and mesh, providing coverage of up to 380 square meters
- Increased availability on both the Openreach and CityFibre networks of up to 19.8 million premises
- Optional smart TV box and digital voice services also available
The average peak time download speed of 944Mbps on TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 is a good indicator of performance, and is beaten by only a few other gigabit deals, including Virgin Media's Gig1 plan, which offers 1130Mbps average download speeds.
TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 is also suited to households with a view to a budget too, coming in at £45 per month, whilst also including a double router pack worth almost £300.
Lastly, customers also have the choice to bundle TalkTalk's new Android based TV service, which offers access to a range of on-demand apps including Netflix, NOW, and Prime Video.

TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 delivers average download speeds of 944Mbps at peak times over a full fibre to the premises network.

The current pricing for new customers is:
Package | Broadband | Monthly price | Upfront price | Contract term | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Full Fibre 900 | 944Mb average | £45 | Free | 18 months | |
Offer: Free setup and P&P |
TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 comes as a broadband-only package, although customers can now add digital voice for an extra £2 per month with calls on a pay as you go basis.
Optional call plans are available too, including off-peak or anytime UK calls from £12 per month.
Priced at £45 per month, TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 is competitively priced, especially when you consider the equipment included.
As with many providers these days, TalkTalk will increase prices annually by £3 per month in April. This increase applies to both out of contract and in-contract customers, so it's worth being aware of.
In terms of availability, TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 is provided over both the Openreach and CityFibre FTTP networks, which cover around 19.8 million premises combined. This gives TalkTalk wider coverage than BT, Sky and Plusnet, but those living in CityFibre enabled areas unfortunately won't be able to add the TalkTalk TV plan or digital voice service.

Full Fibre 900 + TalkTalk TV
Customers who take TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 broadband can also bundle a smart TV box.
Full fibre customers get the new 4K TV Hub, which is powered by Android TV and offers access to the Google Play Store, with over 10,000 apps.
Package | TV | Broadband | Monthly price | Upfront price | Contract term | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Full Fibre 900 + TalkTalk TV | 70 | 944Mb average | £50 | Free | 18 months | |
Offer: Free setup and P&P |
TalkTalk TV costs £5 per month and is provided on a rolling monthly contract, so customers can give just 48 hours' notice to cancel.
The TV hub provides access to Freeview and the Google Play Store, where users can download on-demand apps like Netflix, NOW, Prime Video, Disney+, Discovery+, Paramount+, Apple TV+, and many others.
While TalkTalk themselves provide little additional content, customers can subscribe to a vast array of third-party streaming sites usually on flexible monthly terms.
Those who want to watch premium content from Sky, including Sky Sports or Sky Cinema, will be able to access this through the NOW app, while those who want to watch TNT Sports will find it on Discovery+.
Overall, while TalkTalk TV lacks the live channels found on rival pay TV platforms like Virgin Media and Sky, it does offer wide support for on-demand apps.

How does TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 compare?
Despite offering faster speeds and a better router package, TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 remains competitively priced, coming in at a similar price to deals from BT, Origin Broadband and EE.

However, while it is well priced, there are cheaper gigabit deals available, including from Sky, Vodafone, and Plusnet.
Virgin Media Gig1 is also cheaper than TalkTalk Full Fibre 900, currently costing just £39 per month, although availability will be different from other providers who mainly resell Openreach.
Because TalkTalk also use CityFibre as a network provider, availability will be slightly greater compared to Openreach-only providers like Sky, BT, and Plusnet.
TV & broadband prices
When we combine TalkTalk TV with Full Fibre 900, TalkTalk appears more competitive, however it's difficult to compare on a like-for-like basis due to the differences in TV platforms.
Package | TV | Broadband | Monthly price | Upfront price | Contract term | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Full Fibre 900 + TalkTalk TV | 70 | 944Mb average | £50 | Free | 18 months | |

Offer: £50 BT Reward Card + Save £144 on EE Entertainment TV + Free setup on BT Broadband and EE TV (Ends 23/01/2025) |
While Sky Stream appears more expensive, it's important to remember it offers more live content and includes Sky Atlantic, Netflix and Discovery+, while TalkTalk TV requires more subscriptions for content.
Virgin Media Flex also comes with little more than free-to-air content, and requires additional fees of £15 per month to access their Essential Entertainment add-on with more premium channels.
Overall, TalkTalk TV is a worthwhile addition for customers who want a 4K TV box to watch on-demand subscriptions on a large screen, but it doesn't compete with the comprehensive services offered by Sky or Virgin Media.
How fast is TalkTalk Full Fibre 900?
TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 advertised average download speeds at peak times of 944Mbps, which makes it one of the fastest widely available gigabit broadband plans in the UK.
This means at least 50% of TalkTalk customers on this plan are actually receiving 944Mbps or faster during the busiest times of 8pm to 10pm in the evening for home connections.
Average download speed | Average upload speed | |
---|---|---|
Full Fibre 900 | 944Mbps | 110Mbps |
TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 also offers average upload speeds of 110Mbps at peak times.
This plan has faster download speeds on average than equivalent connections from BT, Plusnet, Sky, and Vodafone.
TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 is also faster than gigabit broadband from independent networks Community Fibre and Hyperoptic, who advertise average download speeds of 920Mbps and 900Mbps. However, they do offer symmetrical speeds, so uploads are much faster than with TalkTalk.
Virgin Media's Gig1 broadband offers faster download speeds on average at peak times than TalkTalk Full Fibre 900, with the majority of their customers receiving 1.13Gbps, 186Mbps faster than TalkTalk.
Minimum guaranteed speed
TalkTalk give customers a guaranteed minimum download speed when they sign up, which is based on their individual property.
Estimated download speed | Minimum guaranteed speed | |
---|---|---|
Full Fibre 900 | 944Mbps | 725Mbps |
*Minimum speed could vary based on location.
Minimum guaranteed speeds are a promise that if a customer's download speed drops below this minimum for 3 consecutive days, and the provider doesn't resolve the issue within 30 days, the customer is free to leave their contract.
The promise is part of Ofcom's voluntary code on broadband speeds, which was first set up in 2020, and which TalkTalk has signed up to.
eero Pro 6 routers
TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 comes with the Amazon eero Pro 6 router, which offers tri-band WiFi 6.
WiFi 6 came out in 2020, and so many newer devices will benefit from it's faster connection speeds. While tri-band channels mean it operates on three channels for wider coverage, compared to the usual two channels with dual-band wireless.
The specifications of the eero Pro 6 router are:
Amazon eero Pro 6 | |
---|---|
WiFi Protocol | 6 |
WiFi Bands | Tri band |
Mesh | Yes |
Devices | 75 |
2.4GHz channel | 2x2 MU-MIMO |
5GHz channel | 2x2 MU-MIMO |
5Ghz channel | 4x4 MU-MIMO |
Ethernet LAN | 2 x 1Gb |
Antennae | 8 |
Security | WPA3 |
Customers also get a second Amazon eero Pro 6 router as part of the Total Home WiFi mesh system, worth around £150 each. As a result, the two eero Pro 6 mesh routers should offer wireless coverage over twice the area of using one router alone, which TalkTalk say is 380 square meters.
Mesh technology allows multiple routers or extenders to create a seamless wireless network across a larger area. Devices only need to be signed in once and they'll remain on the same WiFi network whichever router they're connected to.
Amazon eero Pro 6 routers also come with a built-in Zigbee Smart Home Hub. This means it can be used as a hub for smart devices, and also supports Alexa voice control.
Overall, the 2-router pack included with Full Fibre 900 is one of the best routers included in a broadband deal.
Because Full Fibre 900 comes with TalkTalk's Total Home WiFi as standard, customers can request additional mesh routers if they don't achieve a minimum wireless speed of 10Mbps in every room in their home, as this is part of the Total Home Coverage promise.
Where is TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 available?
The full fibre to the home connection uses both the Openreach and CityFibre networks depending on availability in any area, which is around 19.8 million premises so far in total, with some overlapping.
Both Openreach and CityFibre also have ambitious rollout plans to reach more of the UK in the coming years. Openreach aim to reach 25 million premises by the end of 2026, or 80% of the UK, while CityFibre aim to reach a total of 8 million premises in the next few years.

Verdict: Is TalkTalk Full Fibre 900 any good?
TalkTalk offer customers a great way to experience gigabit broadband and by bundling up to date WiFi 6 mesh routers, gives customers the best chance of experiencing fast home WiFi too.
Full Fibre 900 is competitively priced amongst other gigabit broadband packages on the Openreach network. While it's not ultimately the cheapest overall, we think that's fair considering the advance router pack included.
What we like most about Full Fibre 900 from TalkTalk:
- One of the fastest widely available gigabit download speeds at peak times
- WiFi 6 mesh routers with whole home WiFi guarantee included for free
- eero secure included at no extra cost with virus and malware protection and advanced parental control tools for families
- TalkTalk TV Hub can be added, offering Freeview and access to over 10,000 apps in the Google Play Store
- Digital voice add-on now available for those who want to keep a home phone line
There isn't too much we don't like about TalkTalk's Full Fibre 900 package. One thing to bear in mind is that TalkTalk doesn't always have the best customer service as we look at in our full review of TalkTalk broadband, but aside from that, Full Fibre 900 stands up well against its rivals.
There are cheaper gigabit options available, but where Vodafone and Plusnet beat TalkTalk on price, the included router isn't as good and customers also won't get a wireless guarantee. Sky Gigafast is also currently cheaper, but customers have to pay an extra £4 per month for any additional WiFi boosters.
Overall, we think Full Fibre 900 is a strong package from TalkTalk and a good option for those looking to try gigabit broadband.
