Vodafone Business Broadband Review

Last updated: 23 December 2024   By Lyndsey Burton

Vodafone offer both part and full fibre broadband options for small businesses, with competitive pricing and the latest router.

Vodafone offer a range of business broadband packages for small businesses, ideally best suited to office-based companies.

Much like their residential packages, customers can choose from low-priced standard deals, or Pro II packages with the latest WiFi 6E Ultra Hub and WiFi boosters.

Contracts are fairly long however, at 24 and 36 months in length, although the option of a longer commitment can save money with cheaper prices.

Who is Vodafone business broadband best suited for?

Vodafone business broadband offer a range of part and full fibre packages, with customers able to choose from competitive pricing, as well as the latest router and WiFi equipment.

All packages come with a phone line as standard at no extra cost, and the unlimited UK anytime call plan is priced at just £6.67 per month (+ VAT), so offers exceptional value for money for businesses who need to make a lot of calls.

Vodafone business broadband is best suited to:

  • Small businesses who want to access the fastest broadband speeds of up to 910Mbps, along with the latest WiFi 6E router equipment and boosters
  • Small businesses who want a business-grade connection at an ultra-low price, with full fibre packages starting from just £18.40 (+ VAT)
  • Coffee shops, cafes, or pubs who want to offer their customers WiFi with Vodafone's free guest WiFi
  • Businesses that don't mind missing out on paid-for assurances on fault resolution times and costs

While Vodafone boast options to take a WiFi 6E Ultra Hub and up to three WiFi 6E boosters, plus an automatic 4G back-up, they do miss out on some services specific businesses may want.

Vodafone don't offer extras like additional paid subscriptions for faster fault resolution times or covered engineer costs, like business-specific provider XLN does.

In fact, Vodafone's business broadband package, especially Pro II, is much the same as their residential broadband plans, making it therefore probably best suited to office-based businesses.

That said, Vodafone do offer a guest WiFi service for free, which other business broadband providers charge for, so it could also be a great fit for coffee shops, cafes and pubs, or any business in the hospitality industry, as long as the internet connection isn't too critical.

Businesses also get a static IP address included, and it's possible to order up to 8 more.

What does Vodafone business broadband offer?

Vodafone business broadband offers a selection of both part fibre and full fibre broadband packages, including a gigabit option with average download speeds of 910Mbps.

Businesses can choose from superfast speeds in part fibre areas, or speeds of 35-40Mb, 60-80Mb, 100Mb, 200Mb, 500Mb, and 910Mb in full fibre enabled locations.

  • Vodafone's Intelligent WiFi Hub, which supports dual-band WiFi 5

  • Business support line with standard support

  • Choice of 24- or 36-month contracts on most plans

Vodafone business broadband packages can also add an unlimited anytime call plan for just £6.67 per month (+ VAT), which covers all calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles.

Pro II

Vodafone also offer businesses the choice of their Pro II package upgrade, which bundles an upgraded router, WiFi boosters, 4G back-up device, and dedicated WiFi support.

Business customers who take Pro II will also get:

  • WiFi 6E enabled Ultra Hub
  • Up to three WiFi 6E boosters
  • 4G mobile broadband back-up
  • Dedicated WiFi Xpert Support

While Vodafone's residential broadband packages now come with the WiFi 6 Power Hub as standard, Vodafone are still supplying standard business packages with the WiFi 5 Intelligent Hub.

As a result, businesses may find the upgrade to Pro II more worthwhile, as the Ultra Hub will be able to deliver faster speeds to devices which also support WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E.

The 4G mobile broadband back-up is also well suited to businesses that are heavily reliant on their Internet connection to remain productive, with a seamless exchange to 4G by the router if the fixed-line connection goes down at any point.

Vodafone business Pro II broadband costs:

Business Pro II Full Fibre 1 36Mb average £32.50 Free 24 months

What broadband speeds does Vodafone business offer?

Average broadband speeds available with Vodafone Business are based on the busiest time of the day for businesses - which is 12pm to 2pm.

At least 50% of a provider's customer base must receive their advertised average speeds during peak times, and so the speeds given by Vodafone Business are accurate for daytime use when companies are using and reliant on their connections.

Businesses in full fibre enabled areas passed by Openreach FTTP, which is over 16 million premises across the UK, can choose from the following speeds:

Average download speed Average upload speed
Full Fibre 1 36Mb 9Mb
Full Fibre 2 73Mb 18Mb
Full Fibre 100 100Mb 18Mb
Full Fibre 200 200Mb 27Mb
Full Fibre 500 500Mb 68Mb
Full Fibre 900 910Mb 105Mb

While those passed by CityFibre full fibre broadband instead, will also benefit from faster symmetrical upload speeds:

Average download speed Average upload speed
Full Fibre 1 41Mb 41Mb
Full Fibre 2 82Mb 82Mb
Full Fibre 100 100Mb 100Mb
Full Fibre 200 200Mb 200Mb
Full Fibre 500 500Mb 500Mb
Full Fibre 900 910Mb 910Mb

As with their residential products, Vodafone also offer businesses a minimum speed guarantee, which is a service guarantee that will allow businesses to exit their contracts early should they not receive at least the minimum speed for 3 days or more.

Vodafone ask for 30 days in which to try and resolve any connection issues, however, should speeds remain low the contract can be ended without any early termination charges.

The minimum guaranteed download speed is the same, or very similar, across both Openreach and CityFibre network areas:

Minimum guaranteed download speed (CityFibre) Minimum guaranteed download speed (Openreach)
Full Fibre 1 21Mb 18Mb
Full Fibre 2 41Mb 37Mb
Full Fibre 100 50Mb 50Mb
Full Fibre 200 100Mb 100Mb
Full Fibre 500 250Mb 250Mb
Full Fibre 900 455Mb 455Mb

Vodafone Business Router

Businesses who take broadband with Vodafone have two router choices, take the Intelligent WiFi Hub at no extra cost, or upgrade to Pro II and get the latest WiFi 6E Ultra Hub.

Vodafone's Intelligent WiFi Hub offers dual-band wireless up to the WiFi 5 protocol, or 802.11ac.

It has seven internal antennae, along with smart channel selection to automatically connect devices to the least congested WiFi channel.

It's a reasonable device and will be adequate for most businesses, but it is starting to look a little dated when we consider Vodafone are rumoured to now be working on a WiFi 7 router, and WiFi 6 is already becoming the norm.

For around an extra £14 per month, businesses can upgrade to the Ultra Hub however, which supports WiFi 6E, and comes bundled with one WiFi 6E booster (up to 3 available) and an automatic 4G mobile broadband device.

The Ultra Hub offers tri-band wireless, with an additional 6GHz channel for faster connections on a much less contended channel. It's also backwards compatible with WiFi 6 and WiFi 5 devices.

It has an additional 2.5Gb Ethernet LAN port, along with 2 1Gb ports, and the WiFi boosters also have 1 x 2.5Gb and 1 x 1Gb Ethernet LAN ports as well.

The Ultra Hub also has 12 internal antennae, supporting speeds up to 4.8Gbps.

Here are the specifications of each Vodafone business router side-by-side:

Vodafone Ultra Hub Vodafone Intelligent WiFi Hub
WiFi protocol 6E (802.11ax) 5 (802.11ac)

Antennae 12 7

Vodafone Business customers are also provided with the Vodafone Broadband app, which allows companies to check the stability of their Internet connection and see any connected devices. It's also possible to manage the guest WiFi service with this app too.

Customer Service

In 2024, Vodafone won Best Network for Business for the second year running at the Mobile News Awards. They won the award for their small and medium business support services, including V-Hub, which is also offered to business broadband customers.

There aren't many official figures dedicated to Vodafone's business broadband operations from industry regulator Ofcom, but we can see they have an Excellent Trustpilot rating.

However, these reviews are a mixture of mobile and broadband services, as well as being predominantly from residential customers, which often connect with different support teams.

At Trustpilot, Vodafone have been rated 4.5 out of 5, from over 73,000 reviewers. While 63% said they were Excellent, as many as 34% said they were Bad.

Business customers are often given priority for broadband support, with providers recognising the internet is vital to many business's operations.

Verdict: Is Vodafone Business broadband any good?

Vodafone Business broadband offers the best of two worlds: it's a budget broadband option for businesses looking for the cheapest available deal, yet, it can be enhanced with premium features and scalable solutions to grow as your business does.

Businesses can choose from full fibre broadband speeds up to 910Mbps, with symmetrical uploads also available in CityFibre locations. While those on a tighter budget can save money with standard plans and longer contract options of up to 36 months.

We like:

  • Competitive low pricing to ensure businesses can get connected at affordable prices
  • Widest availability of full fibre broadband working with both Openreach and CityFibre networks
  • Options to upgrade to a newer WiFi 6E router with boosters and 4G back-up
  • The included static IP and guest wifi service at no extra cost

Vodafone are also pretty dedicated to supporting SME's with their V-Hub service and dedicated business support lines and business.connected free training tools to help businesses become digitally skilled.

Overall, Vodafone business broadband feels like a solid choice, it's competitively priced in line with residential broadband deals, with plenty of options to customise the plan to a company's specific needs.
